Paarlite makes music at monument

A LOCAL musician who sings and plays guitar, Craig Stott, will be performing at the Afrikaans Language Monument on Saturday from 17:00 to 18:00. This is part of the monument’s picnic program for the summer. So bring along a picnic basket and enjoy the sounds of acustic music while indulging in your snacks. Stott, well-known for performing at a shopping centre in Paarl, started playing guitar at the age of twelve. “I never got any formal training in music. My mother who also played in a band, showed me the basics of how the guitar works. “From there I taught myself and learnt from other musicians,” Stott told the Paarl Post. He has been in the music industry now for the past seven years, and manages to support a wife and two daughters, with performances at functions and street music in central Paarl. He plays a large variety of music like folk, hip-hop, classical and soft rock music, but concentrates on folk music. Entry fee to the monument is R10 (R5 students and R2 children).
