Assistance with agri-census
2008-01-24
IT is mandatory for the public to answer questions relevant to the agri-survey being undertaken by Statistics South Africa. Stats SA, in partnership with Agri Western Cape and other farming associations in the province, is set to embark on an outreach programme aimed at assisting farmers to complete the Agriculture Census questionnaires. As part of the outreach programme, the statistical agency will deploy a team of officers to set up and man the stalls in all regions across the province. The regional stall set-up is the first to be conducted provincially this year and Stats SA believes this initiative will play a major role in improving the response rate from the farming community. Stats SA launched its Agriculture Census in July last year. The survey covers all farming units registered for Value Added Tax (VAT) or Income Tax. The results of the Census will be made available on 8 June 2009. Officials from Stats SA will visit the Wellington/Paarl area this week until 29 January.
