Fun with horses
2008-01-31
SATURDAY’S Hoofbeat Festival at Crow’s Nest in Agter Paarl offers a host of events for the whole family. There will be spectacular performances by 14 horse and pony breeds, displays of old time carriages, a show with dogs competing in three disciplines and a sunset blues rock concert by the Cape Town group, The Thunderbirds. From a famous Ascot and Dubai horse race winner to a humble fouryear-old on horseback, will be in action. This festival, organised by National Horse and Livestock Promotions and Crow’s Nest Events, will be held between the lush vineyards of Crow’s Nest, on the R44 between Klapmuts and Wellington. The main aim of these festivals, being held in different parts of the country, is to promote all horse and livestock breeds in a unique manner. It is by means of spectacular horse performances (without judging of animals). Large numbers of the public can be brought together in a festive spirit in the countryside. Saturday’s events in the main arena include fashion and costumed items. There will be a prize for the best dressed couple. Tickets are R50; children under 12 free (R30 for pensioners). Further information, from Marcel or Deidre de Reuck on 021-869-8712 or 082-920-4788 or Hennie Basson on 072273-6042.
