Putreach programme in Paarl

THE Voice of the Cape Winter Outreach programme is visiting the Boland.
While Paarl played host to the programme last week, Wellington will be the final stop in this year’s Winter Outreach programme.
VOC’s project co-ordinator, Raudah Lee, says the programme has enjoyed growing support, which made it unnecessary for the VOC Breadline to be reopened for the last few programmes.
The community of Paarl also sponsored the 300 loaves of bread and soup required for this broadcast.
Due to the travelling distance, the time of the focus programme has been changed from 09:00 to 14:00, with Jamiel Wallace as host.
The VOC Winter Outreach programme is aimed at putting the focus on specific issues like housing, unemployment and poverty in mainly squatter areas.
“But we don’t want to go empty handed to these areas during the outside broadcast.
“Therefore we have launched our breadline, which allows our listeners to donate a bread or two to people living in the areas we visit.
“It will obviously not end the poverty, but it is just good manners to take something along, especially where you know that people live in poverty,” says Raudah Lee.
