AS part of the celebrating youth month, Koinonia is launching a civic education programme directed at youth and youth organisations.

The aim of the programme is to increase youth participation to understand the nuts and bolts of government in a practical easy to understand way.

The 16-hour course can be tailor-made and can be run over an extended period or as a once-off workshop, says course developer, Charmell Viljoen.

“The participants will find our style of presentation easy to follow and practical.

“Participants will be able to ask questions, work in groups and to debate. The beauty of the course is that it is presented for the youth, by the youth.”

It is important that young men and women are sensitised as to how government works, as they are the people that must ensure that participatory democracy works, says Harlan Cloete, director at Koinonia.

Municipalities, youth organisations as well as faith-based organisations are encouraged to contact André Smith at Koinonia 872-2142/3/4 for more details on this exciting course.
