MBEKWENI police station will be hosting various activities as part of their Drug Awareness Campaign this week.

Today they will be holding discussions on the dangers of drugs at Ihlumelo and Desmond Tutu High Schools between 13:00 and 15:00, and tomorrow morning between 11:00 and 13:00 at Newton Primary.

On Saturday a fun-filled day to launch the rural safety sector for the area, will be held on the Newton rugbygrounds from 11:00, with stalls, fun sports events and a potjiekos competition.

There will be live entertainment by popular local musicians such as Richard Hala and Sabrina, as well as entertainment for the children.

Admission to the grounds is free, but there is an entry fee of R20 for the potjiekos competition, which includes the ingredients. Stalls are R50 each.
