The wildest race on two wheels

THE Wilde Fruit Juice cycling event will be held in Wellington this weekend, starting at the Pacmar juice factory. Entries close today. The event will include league riders as this is an opportunity to prepare for the forthcoming Cape Argus cycling race in March. There are two races to compete in on Saturday, both launched from the Wellington Business Park. The long distance race consists of 103 km and will start off at 06:30. The route will take the cyclists towards Wellington, before turning left onto the R44 towards Hermon. Here they will pass Riebeek Kasteel over Bothmaskloof before turning left onto the R45 towards Paarl, and finish at Lady Loch. The 42 km cyclists will pedal from 07:15. They will follow the long route towards Wellington leading them onto Lady Loch and then towards Malmesbury. Cyclists follow Voorpaardeberg Road, to the Sonop Winery and rejoin the R44 near Wellington. Tickets cost between R60 and R80 for Pedal Power Association members and nonmembers respectively.
