Harvest experience at Wellington winery
2008-02-21
THE Napier Winery in Wellington will be celebrating their harvest with a fun but informative ‘harvest experience’ on Saturday 1 March. The day starts early with visitors being served coffee or tea from 06:30. At 07:00 the party will receive a breakfast parcel and will be transported to the vineyards, where harvesting will start. After about two hours the aspirant winemakers will move to the cellar, where winemaker Leon Bester, will explain the production process. He promises that this is where the fun really starts! For their ‘efforts’, the ‘wine workers’ will each receive lunch and a three-bottle gift pack of wine, as well as a key ring. If you’re interested in a fun way of getting closer to the vine, as well as adding a little more knowledge to your next wine tasting, Napier winery’s ‘harvest experience’ is the place to be. The Napier Winery, named after the Governor of the Cape, Sir George Napier, is a small people-orientated, boutique winery in Wellington, which produces terroir specific red and white wines. The cost of R300 per person includes all meals, as well as the wine gift pack. Call Wallie du Toit at 021-873-7829 for more information or to book your space by 28 February.
