FIFTEEN years ago when I saw the light, the government promised houses to the homeless, running water, electricity, safety and many other necessities that millions in our country can still only dream of.
It is now the fifteenth year that service delivery is next to nothing. It is worse than ever!
Explain to me why our domestic servant has been on the waiting list for a RDP house? Why are they still busy with the 1995 list in Paarl?
What has further come to light arouses my anger.
You promised water to all… why then can we not drink the water from the Berg River, why then is our water so polluted that it is yellow when we take a bath and children in informal settlements get sick daily?
The final thing that really got me up in arms was that the powers that be, can allow silly clauses to be included in the new Sexual Offences Act.
I would really like to know why children under sixteen are not allowed to kiss and fondle, but condoms are handed out around every corner and teenagers as young as twelve are allowed an abortion without the permission of their parents.
Also once I am sixteen, according to the new law, a 60 year old man can sleep with me, but while I am fifteen, I may not hold my matric boyfriend’s hand or kiss him. Please switch on the lights, Mr Mbeki, and see who is running our country down the drain.
