2008-02-28
A MUSIC school will open in Charleston Hill, Paarl, soon under the directorship of Making More Music Productions, a local company which was conceptualised about five years ago by Morné Meyer from Wellington. Talented musicians and music teachers who would like to sow their time and talents into this community venture are also welcome to contact him. The main objective of the school will be to afford children the opportunity to develop their musical skills and showcase their talent. Tuition will be offered in brass and string instruments, piano and keyboard, bass guitar, Western and African percussion, drums and music theory. Nominal fees will be charged to contribute towards covering costs, children will receive lessons at a subsidised cost, in order to include those who are not in a position to pay. Auditions will be held Sunday at 15:00 at the School of Performing Arts, located at AHOS, next to the TC Newman Hospital, Charleston Hill, Paarl. Successful learners will be able to attend music lessons from Monday 10 March. For more information, call Morné Meyer at 072-229-7423.
