INTERNATIONAL guests and apartment owners on the luxury cruise ship “The World” were treated to the superlative cuisine of the award-winning Bosman’s Restaurant during a two-day cruise from Cape Town to Port Elizabeth recently.
Jochen Riedel, head chef of Bosman’s at the Grande Roche Hotel in Paarl and Grands Chefs Relais & Chateaux, with his culinary team presented a unique cooking demonstration, while the co-owner of Kanonkop Wine Estate, Johann Krige, held a vertical winetasting of ten Kanonkop Pinotage vintages and Kanonkop Paul Sauer Bordeaux blends.
After this ‘culinary experience’ the guests sat down to a gala dinner featuring Jochen’s five-course signature menu, matched with Kanonkop wines at The Portraits Gourmet Restaurant, the fine dining restaurant on the ship.
The menu reflected the diversity of regional cuisine and featured kingklip and venison, as well as imaginatively concocted vegetarian dishes.
Jochen who joined executive chef Frank Zlomke and his team 12 years ago has been part of the winning recipe that has enabled Grande Roche to become a legend on the local hospitality scene for having won so many awards and culinary accolades since its opening in 1992.

The cruise menu included dishes such as Tandoori kingklip, veal fillet, poached lamb loin with goat’s cheese, cherry crusted springbok loin and for dessert, a Nougat-preline mousse.
