Mr Cat and The Jackal at the Old Mill

2008-03-06

THE band Mr Cat and The Jackal will perform at the Old Mill Theatre tomorrow at 20:00.

Mr Cat and the Jackal entered the music scene about a year ago with their groundbreaking musical style and have been writing and recording an extensive repertoire of enchanting melodies.

The band has since been performing live, intrigueing and amazing audiences all around Cape Town. They are currently working on their first, very unique music video.

With a Kanna nomination for the soundtrack of the award winning Marthinus Basson theatre piece “Die Storm” these guys are rapidly taking the music industry by storm.

The music is strangely unique, like nothing ever produced in South Africa before.

Besides the utter brilliance of the duo, Gertjie Besselsen (vocals, lead guitar) and Jacques du Plessis (almost anything) their live performances will always be worth your while. These guys make sure to intrigue their fans with Van Eyk on base, Cobus on percussion and Pierre on drums.

With the unbelievable versatility and exploding energy of each musician they create the music with many interesting, foreign and handmade instruments.

If the music doesn’t immediately have you - you can be sure to be fascinated anyway by just watching how this five piece creates music.

Tickets are R30. Call Vicky Stemmet at 083-564-0056.
