PAARLITE Dawie van der Walt who currently plays his golf for the Texas University of Lamar, recently received more honours for his performances on the golf course.
The Golf Coaches Associated of America recently awarded Van der Walt with Ping All-American honours.
Van der Walt helped Lamar to a 12th place finish at the NCAA Central Regional hosted by Notre Dame, which was the team's best ever regional finish.
The Lamar Cardinals were within one stroke of advancing to the NCAA Championship.
The former Paarl player tied for 14th place individually with a 54-hole score of three over par 77, 67, 69 and total 213.
Van der Walt is the sixth Lamar player in the school's history to earn Ping All-American honours.
He is now in the advantageous position to play in any US amateur competition without having to qualify.
Van der Walt is currently in Rhode Island where he is competing in the North Eastern Amateur Championship.
Jacobus Roos of Stellenbosch, a former Boland teammate of van der Walt who recently turned professional, has joined his countryman in Texas.
Roos will hope to make his mark on the American professional circuit.
