AN exhibition of new works by artists Nic Bladen, Mary Visser and Marieke Prinsloo has opened at The Gallery, at Grande Provence in Franschhoek and runs until 16 April.

Nic Bladen scours the veld to find interesting non endangered fynbos plants. On site, on the back of his bakkie, he casts the entire plant: roots, stem, leaves and flowers. These are then worked into magnificent realistic silver sculptures in his studio.

Most of his work is mounted on crystal block mounts. Nic is also known for his delicate fine silver fynbos jewellery.

This will be Mary Visser’s first show in Franschhoek after exhibiting in many wellknown galleries in Cape Town and Johannesburg.

Her dramatic use of colour, texture and composition reflect her artistic passion. Her emotional response to the landscape is clearly visible in her work. Her work features scenes in acrylic and oil of places in and around Cape Town.

Multi-award- winning Overberg artist, Marieke Prinsloo, will be exhibiting a new series of work comprising life-size sculptures made from cement fondue. Her work will be shown both in The Gallery and in the Sculpture Garden at Grande Provence.

The Gallery at Grande Provence has become synonymous as a leading location for South African visual arts through regular exhibitions featuring many leading and indeed emerging South African artists.

Grande Provence also opened the first ever ‘Sculpture Garden’ on a wine estate in South Africa in September.
