Laxity in upkeep of our parks

Laxity in upkeep of our parks

2008-03-27

IN the park in Groenvlei near Foxglove Street in Paarl North, a street light has been out for three weeks, one refuse bin is full, another bin is broken and a third (also broken) has been removed and now garbage lies on the ground where it was.

At the park near Skool Street, behind ‘De Oude Werf’ there was a roundabout and swings, which were obviously easier to remove than repair.

In one area a resident seems to have appropriated part of a park for himself - has he got permission?

Our kids are losing recreational places.

What example are our kids getting with such service from our community care givers?

I’m sure the Municipality will have an excuse, but is it acceptable?

Perhaps all our rates go to pay for salaries of councillors and higher officials.

Either way, it’s not going back to the public.

Dissatisfied
