Hikers lost in mountain
2008-03-27
SIX hikers were recently rescued on the Limietberg, after having misjudged their hiking route. A member of the public in Wellington made an emergency call to Cape Nature on the evening of 9 March, informing Deon Rossouw that he had seen lights against the mountain. Rossouw contacted Vincent Booysen of Wilderness Search and Rescue and a search was initiated for the hikers. The dehydrated group was located at 23:30 in the depths of the mountain and taken to the First Toll hut. Cape Nature advises that hikers should inform them of intended hikes and that they should always have enough liquids at hand for the hike’s duration.
