THE second Franschhoek Literary Festival (FLF) will take place from Friday 16 May to Sunday 18 May. The festival programme is once again jam-packed with local and international novelists, poets, playwrights and journalists (see www.flf.co.za). Highlights include Pulitzer Prize-winning American novelist Richard Ford, celebrated poet Gabeba Baderoon, Mbeki biographer Mark Gevisser, crime writers Deon Meyer and Margie Orford, businesswoman Dr Mamphela Ramphele, bestselling Irish writer Cathy Kelly. Also on the speakers’ list are Damon Galgut, Ingrid Winterbach, Etienne van Heerden, Shaun Johnson and Christopher Hope. The visiting authors have been selected for their exceptional writing, their approachability and their passion for promoting reading.
