Formula recalled

NESTLÉ South Africa has announced that a small number (2100) of tins of NAN 2 (900 grams) with the batch code 73310179B2, manufactured on 27 November in the time period 20:30 until 22:00, contain higher levels of trace elements (Iron, Zinc and Copper) than declared on the label. To date, Nestlé has managed to retrieve the product from 140 of the 180 stores to which it was distributed. Although consuming this product would not have adverse health effects, this limited number of NAN 2 tins does not comply with Nestlé’s quality standards. It is for this reason that Nestlé has decided to voluntarily withdraw the 2100 affected 900g tins from the shelves. The batch code and time of manufacture appear at the bottom of the individual tins. Nestlé wants to give consumers the reassurance and commitment that products with the same batch code (733 10179 B2), but other than 20:30 – 22:00 time indications are within the strict international specifications for follow-up infant formula. Nestlé has also put measures in place to prevent such occurrences in the future. Consumers in possession of the affected product are advised to call 086 009 6789.
