I AM writing this letter in response to the article ‘Diere met liefde en skenkings beskerm’. Although it would seem fantastic how the Wellington SPCA is receiving public support, one issue really bothers me. Why is so much money being spent on renovating municipal grounds that do not belong to the SPCA?

The SPCA as a whole is there for the prevention of cruelty towards animals, not to build two bedroom houses. Why not rather spend the money on mass sterilisation campaigns or a mobile clinic where the SPCA can work more effectively in the indigent areas?

If these projects are already underway, then great - I will be more than willing to donate, but if it is to beautify premises I will not contribute.
