CAPE Waste’s Nick van Wyk, a valued supplier of services to the Paarl Media Group, generously donated R10 000 respectively to Paarl Media’s major Corporate Social Investment projects Miqlat and LoveLife.
At Paarl Media’s 2008 Leap Year function, the Paarl based community development organisation Miqlat and LoveLife, South Africa’s HIV/Aids Awareness organisation for the youth, were highlighted during a special presentation, which resulted in Cape Waste’s generous offer.
Paarl Media is assisting Miqlat to set up a computer centre in Paarl East, which will be known as the Paarl Media leapfrog learning centre.
The funds donated by Cape Waste will be applied to purchase computer equipment and technical services. This computer centre will assist many youths and adults from this sub-economical area by providing real opportunities for learning and development.
Paarl Media’s involvement with LoveLife, affords training opportunities to previously disadvantaged young people, as well as an introduction to the printing industry. This is done through learnerships sponsored and funded by Paarl Media and technical training presented by the Cross Media Training Centre.
Cape Waste’s donation in this case will be applied towards financial support of a learnership.
