ON Easter weekend a tournament was held at Mbekweni, organised by district councillor Mthini and his rugby team from Cape Winelands, led by municipal manager Mike Mgajo.
As citizens, we need to know who received sponsorship, before we move to challenge this maladministration.
Mthini received money from the district mayor for his club to organise a mini-tournament.
As citizens we urge the mayor and the municipal manager to explain to the public before we go to court.
We have evidence. It is time we exposed those who misuse our votes.

The municipal manager of the Cape Winelands District Municipality, Mike Mgajo, replies:
The mayoral committee of the Cape Winelands District Municipality met on 14 March and resolved to hold Human Rights Day celebration events.
Councillor Zinzo Mthini was the councillor tasked with ensuring that the celebrations take place.
Sports tournaments were subsequently held over a period of four days during the Easter weekend, in Worcester and in Paarl.
External co-ordinators were appointed to co-ordinate the events on behalf of the Cape Wineland District Municipality.
A co-ordinator for the Paarl event was an organisation called the Boland Development Program.
The Paarl event was held in Mbekweni and had 11 rugby teams, 28 soccer teams and eight netball teams participating.
The money that the District Municipality budgeted was spent on organising the four-day event.
We want to place on record that no clubs received any sponsorship from the District Municipality to celebrate Human Rights Day.
We will welcome any information that people have of any irregularity in the organising and hosting of these events. Such information can be forwarded to the office of the municipal manager.
