Walk on Paarl Mountain

THE fourth guided Paarl Mountain walk will take place on Saturday from 09:00 to 11:00, on the Klipkershout Trail.
Meet at the main gate of the Paarl Mountain Nature Reserve (turn off Jan Phillips Mountain Drive at the sign, “The Rocks, Nantes Dam and Bethel Dam” north of the main picnic site).
This will be a moderate walk to enjoy the mountain. Children are welcome. Please bring tea for afterwards if desired.
An exciting development is that a “Friends of Paarl Mountain” group is soon to be established. The first public meeting is scheduled to take place on Saturday 13 August, from 11:30 to 13:00, directly after the morning hack (09:00-11:00).
Please note that you do not have to attend the hack to attend the meeting.
The venue will be the main picnic site, Jan Phillips Mountain Drive, Paarl Mountain Nature Reserve. Please bring a picnic lunch.
The meeting is open to any person who cares about the continued conservation and well-being of Paarl Mountain.
The Friends of Paarl Mountain group will be an independent, community-based group that will be run according to the principles of the WESSA (Wildlife and Environment Society of SA) Friends of Nature Areas initiative.
Friends will become involved in activities such as hacking of alien plants and various projects that will improve or help maintain the Paarl Mountain Nature Reserve, such as clearing of trails and upgrading of the botanical garden.
They will be supported by the Winelands Branch of the Botanical Society and the Boland Environmental Forum, whose members are very welcome to participate.
