LA ROSA Spanish Dance Theatre presents ‘Esencias Flamencas’ at Bridge House Theatre in Groot Drakenstein from 24 to 26 April at 20:00. Esencias Flamencas, meaning ‘Flamenco Essences’, is an innovative new dance production that celebrates our South African heritage through the exotic and vibrant medium of Flamenco. Performed by La Rosa’s professional dance company, this passionate piece interprets the subject matter through the use of colour and rhythmic textures, replicating the hues and characteristics of each wine blend, echoed in the magnificent costumes designed by the award-winning costumier Dicky Longhurst. Live music accompanies the dancers for an authentic performance of Flamenco, combining dance, guitar, song and percussion in continuous dialogue with one another. Musical direction is by Robert Jeffery who will be accompanied onstage by a superb musical ensemble including Bienyameen on Flamenco guitar, Robert Davids on percussion (cajon) and a guest artist from Jerez in Spain, the Flamenco singer Rocio Parrilla.
