FOR 25 years, the Association for Office Professionals of South Africa (OPSA) has hosted the prestigious National Office Professional of the Year Award.
This Award is the benchmark for outstanding performance and achievements by office professionals within the business community in both private sector organisations and government.
Considered to be the pre-eminent award for secretaries, professional assistants and executive assistants, the NOPOTY Award acknowledges those office professionals who demonstrate continued commitment to leadership, education and operational efficiency within their organisations and those who make a significant contribution to the profession.
The 2007/2008 National Office Professional of the Year, Michele Holmes, who is Professional Assistant to senior Discovery executive Gary Taylor, says, “If you think you’re operating at your optimum right now and there’s no way you could possibly stretch yourself any further … you’re wrong! I discovered this when I was recognised as the National Office Professional of the Year 2007/2008.
“This experience has opened my eyes to just how much I am capable of. I’ve taken on tasks and challenges which I never thought possible and it’s been extremely rewarding both professionally and personally.
“Don’t be afraid of the unknown, embrace it and accept the challenge and you’ll grow exponentially in your career and your personal life.”
Office Professionals interested in applying for the Award (and standing in line to win more than R100 000 in prizes) are invited to visit the OPSA website at www. opsa.org.za where they can download the application form, alternatively contact the Award Convener, Samantha Brown, on 012-993-0881 or email her at sam@opsa. org.za.
