I HAVE been travelling from Brackenfell to Paarl since October every day including Saturdays by car. The cost of petrol is over R1000 per month.
In 2010 what will the petrol price be then?
I am a single mom and the cost of living just keeps on increasing.
One just can’t keep up.
Now with the proposed toll plaza at Kraaifontein it’s going to burn a bigger hole in my pocket even if we get a 40% discount for frequent travelling.
I have tried the train and it is very unreliable and not safe at all.
In Paarl I get off at Huguenot Station and walk up Lady Grey Street to the Main Street, which is also a very unpleasant and nerve-racking street to walk up.
Rather put the money you are going to spend on a toll gate and put it to good use by fixing the public transport first.
Fix the trains and the stations to make it more pleasant for overseas tourists as well as us that have to travel long distances.
That way there will be less vehicles on the roads and less maintenance to be done on the roads.
