Larrie breaks SA record

MELISSA HEWITT has had an outstanding athletics season, which has culminated in her achieving her goal of running a sub 12s in the 100m. Melissa obtained no fewer than 10 medals at the respective championships she competed in over the past few weeks. At the Boland Championships she achieved gold in the 100m (12 seconds) and 200m. At the Western Cape Championships she again won a gold medal in the 100m with a time of 12,21seconds. At the Schools Nationals Melissa won silver in the 100m (12,12seconds), bronze in the 200m and bronze in both the Medley Relay as well as the 4x100m relay where she was a member of The Western Cape Team. At the ASA Youth and Junior Nationals she won silver in the 100m (12,05seconds). At the Cossasa SA Schools Nationals Melissa broke the SA record as she won a gold medal in the 100m (11,70seconds) and gold in the 4x100m relay - also a new record - where she was a member of the u.17 SA Team. Melissa is coached by Brendon du Plessis of the Paarl Athletic Club. In between all the training Melissa was also one of the 10 Miss La Rochelle finalists who took part in the Miss La Rochelle Pageant.
