Expansion plans for Paarl
2005-06-30
THE Paarl/Wellington urban structure plan is to be amended to allow for a new development planned to the south of the N1 near Boschenmeer.
The Ikal Development Trust has applied for rezoning and consolidation of a property of about 16 hectares adjacent to the N1, where a shopping mall was previously approved, for urban residential development.
The proposed private residential estate will consist of 118 residential erven of about 650 square metres (a density of about 7,4 units per hectare).
The farm belongs to developers Isaac Borochowitz and Michael Allen.
Two neighbouring farms, Bestemming (formerly property of Dene Coetzee), and Zanddrift, owned by Koh Seow Chuan of Singapore, are also in the pipeline for urban development.
Developer Gerhardt Jooste of Atterbury Property has bought Bestemming and 50% shares in Zanddrift. He is seeking permission from the Department of Agriculture to subdivide the less fertile sections of these farms for gated developments.
Written comments or objections, if any, must reach the acting Municipal Manager by 1 August.
* Another development south of the N1, this time in the BenBerhard area along the Old Paarl Road, is also on the cards.
An application for rezoning, consolidation and subdivision of a property of 10 hectares belonging to RB Breitenmoser, has been lodged at the Municipality.
It is proposed to develop the site, currently zoned for agriculture, as an industrial park of 44 erven ranging from 1000 to 4000 square metres.
Comments and objections, if any, must reach the municipal manager by 1 August.
