THE winery Schalk Burger and Sons at Wellington have been awarded silver at the prestigious Decanter World Wine Awards in London.
The already highly acclaimed 2005 Welbedacht Hat Trick is a Cape blend which comprises of Pinotage (50%), Syrah (41%) and Merlot (9%).
“We are very proud of Hat Trick’s achievements so far, having already received a four star rating from the Wine Magazine.
“We have always believed that this Burgundian style Cape blend would do well with international palates.
“The 2005 Hat Trick now follows in the footsteps of the 2003 Welbedacht Cricket Pitch and 2005 Chenin Blanc, that won wide international acclaim and awards,” said proprietor Schalk Burger from the Welbedacht wine estate.
