Paarl Soccer Club remains unbeaten
2008-06-05
THE Paarl Soccer Club maintained its unbeaten status in the Metropolitan League of the Drakenstein Football Association by defeating Newton 2-1 in a match played at the Boy Louw Sports Grounds on Saturday. The match started off with both sides defending solidly. However, it was Newton who drew first blood when the Paarl defence was caught short and Ricardo Daniels beat the onrushing goalkeeper to score. In the second half, Paarl dominated proceedings, but were unable to convert their opportunities due to outstanding work by the Newton goalkeeper and their central defence. Due to ill discipline, two Newton players, Jacques Rhoda and Bronnie Douman, were sent off the field which lead to a goal for Paarl’s Igshaan Dennis. Duane de Waal scored the winner for Paarl after coming off the bench when he converted a sublime run and cross by Dennis. On Friday evening the Paarl Over-35 side lost 2-1 to Invincible Cravenby in a Northern Suburbs Over-35 fixture at the Boy Louw grounds. This coming Friday evening, the Paarl Over-35’s will face Central FC at Cravenby at 20:15. All players must meet at the club at 18:30.
