TONIGHT at 19:00 the Frank Pietersen Music Centre will be hosting a Sunset Concert where all the best senior achievers in their control tests will be performing in the Music Centre’s hall in Sanddrift. Items on the musical menu include a Violin Concerto by Vivaldi, a Clarinet Sonata by Poulenc and a Küchler Violin Concertino as well as saxophone, flute, trumpet and singing solos. Music lovers can also hear a few professional players perform. Hadley Duminy and Petrus Coetzee, both violin teachers at the Frank Pietersen Music Centre, will play the first movement of JS Bach’s Double Concerto accompanied by colleague Arno Jones. The “Trio Fantastik”, consisting of Hadley Duminy (violin), Lara Neuenschwander (cello) and Lester le Roux (piano), will perform the Trio in Bflat maj no 6 by Mozart. Both Hadley and Lara teach at the Frank Pietersen Music Centre while Lester teaches piano at Wynberg Girls’ High. The learners will be judged by a panel of judges and various prizes will be awarded. After the concert enjoy soups and bread, while the “Trio Fantastik” provides light background music. It promises to be an entertaining evening for music lovers who brave the cold winter weather. Tickets are R40 (R10 for learners) at the music centre office or at the door including the meal and coffee or tea afterwards. Learners of the music centre have free entrance. Bookings at tel 021-872-2123/4.
