SINCE 2005 the Cape Winelands District Municipality has had reason to believe that certain levy payers have not paid their regional services council levies in full.
The total value of outstanding levies is assessed to be in excess of R250 million.
In terms of legislation all employers including companies, close corporations, partnerships, trusts and individuals who employ people within the region had to pay the regional services levy, unless they were specifically exempted.
The District Council has embarked on a process to collect outstanding levies and have issued assessments to levy payers.
The greater percentage of this amount is due by the larger corporations situated in the region.
