ON 24 March I visited the Perfect 10 store in Paarl Mall to have acrylic nails applied.
Carmen, who did my nails, said that I should return after two weeks for the “back-filling” of the nails. I paid R340 for the beautiful nails.
On 4 April I realised that water and dirt had penetrated under the nails. I made an appointment for Monday 7 April, and on Sunday 6 April the nail fell off my little finger.
Early on the Monday morning I received a phone call from another store to say my appointment had been taken over by them and that I should come in.
When I asked how they were linked to Perfect 10 they said that Perfect 10 (Carmen) had not had the necessary supplies to do nail “filling”.
When the lady at the other store saw my nails, she said that they had to be removed as they had been incorrectly applied.
I returned to Carmen at Perfect 10 to show her how my nails were peeling off. She assured me that this should not happen, but could not explain why it had happened.
I asked her for my money back, as I would have to pay for a new set of nails at the other store.
She phoned Sandra, assistant to the owner (Gawie de Kok), who gave her the assurance that she was depositing the R340 in my bank account by internet as she spoke.
This conversation took place on 7 April, but to date I have not received a cent.
Meanwhile Perfect 10 in Paarl Mall was sold to a new owner, Carmen left and the new owner could not help. Perfect 10’s head office has also been unhelpful, while Gawie and Sandra do not answer their phones.
I have had to pay for a full new set of nails plus R60 for the removal of the old nails. I would never have had the new set applied if I had realised I would not get my money back due to change of ownership.
