Wine, art and jewellery at charity auction
2008-07-10
THE Rotary Club of Paarl will be conducting its annual wine, art and jewellery auction on Saturday 6 September, commencing at 17:00 at L’Avenir Wine Estate between Stellenbosch and Paarl. This gala event has become one of the highlights on the Cape Winelands’ social calendar. The auction is not only the Club’s major fundraiser, but also an occasion for great fellowship, fun and enjoyment. Thanks largely to funds generated annually by the auction, Paarl Rotary Club recently, at a cost of approximately R3 million, completed one of the more ambitious projects undertaken by the Club, the Island of Hope Crisis Centre, intended mainly for victims of abuse. The proceeds of this year’s auction will be utilised to help sponsor the ever-increasing number of worthy causes, mostly involving children, supported by the Paarl Rotary Club. For this year’s auction the club has sourced an exceptional array of wines which will be complemented by a fine collection of paintings, sculptures and jewellery. Tickets sell at R225 per person, inclusive of pre-dinner snacks and sparkling wine, a gourmet three course dinner, with mineral water and wine. Live music will be provided during registration for the auction and also during dinner. For more information or bookings contact Maya Friedrich on 021- 807-3007 or friederm@kwv.co.za.
