Local restaurants shine
2008-07-17
THE first Eat Out People’s Choice in association with Prudential Portfolio Managers has put the spotlight on a number of local restaurants. Restaurants’ greatest critics made their voices heard and cast 9 000 online votes over a period of ten weeks. Restaurants from the Boland area who were commended are The Goatshed (country kitchens and wine farms), Reuben’s Restaurant & Bar (fab 15), Mange Tout Restaurant (fab 15; hotels; views), Haute Cabrière (country kitchens and wine farms), La Petite Ferme (country kitchens and wine farms; views) and Bread and Wine (country kitchens & wine farms) Eat Out’s online brand extension, www.eatout.co.za, appealed to the South African public to vote for their favourite restaurants across 15 different categories. The result is a slick, 66-page consumer- generated supplement published by New Media Publishing (NMP). Edited by Abigail Donnelly, the supplement is bagged with the August 2008 edition of Woolworths Taste magazine and can be viewed online at www.eatout.co.za. Says Donnelly, “Sometimes the personal reviews from the restaurant-going public are forgotten as we professionally judge and review the best restaurants around the country. The Eat Out People’s Choice booklet is here to celebrate the best-kept secrets and your favourite places to eat at.”
