THE Cape Winelands district municipality is owed more than R330 million in outstanding regional services council levies, most of it by leading industrial companies in the Boland, including Paarl, Stellenbosch and Worcester.
The RSC levy was scrapped in 2006, but municipalities were given two years to recover the outstanding payments.
The district municipality has since issued assessments to levy payers, but may be forced to write off much of the debt because the deadline for issuing summonses has expired.
