Franschhoek celebrates French heritage

FRANSCHHOEK, the gastronomic capital of South Africa, celebrates its French Heritage with the traditional Bastille Festival on two fun-filled days, this weekend.
Fabulous food and wine presented by the well-known chefs of Franschhoek and the Vignerons de Franschhoek in the food and wine marquee, including cap classique and oyster cooking demonstrations.
In and around Franschhoek there will be winter red wine specials, French and local cheeses and restaurants and wine estates to · visit.
Activities on the programme include the popular boules competition, pitch and putt, a barrel rolling contest and seven-a-side rugby on the Saturday.
There will be a "Break Out" party on Saturday night and music and entertainment by Daniele Pascal.
Visit the stalls with arts, crafts and a variety of products to choose from as well as the shops and galleries.
