Factory in Paarl upgraded

A PRIVATELY owned Cape-based retail- marketing company, Todwil Retail Solutions, has acquired Cape Tech Plastics in Paarl, a specialist injection moulding company, for an undisclosed sum. They also plan to increase their workforce in the near future.

Todwil precipitated the deal by upgrading an existing plant in Island Street, Paarl, into a new state-of-the-art 10 000 square metre factory.

Through this move, they have brought together four independently operational factories under one roof to consolidate their service.

They will now also house the R25 million assets acquired through the Cape Tech Plastics deal and a new R4 million flatbed digital printer.

“Todwil is one of the few companies in the country that designs, manufactures and installs retail marketing solutions. In this way we reduce costs, manage campaigns more effectively and minimise room for error.

“With the retail economy in the state that it’s currently in, it is more important than ever for brands to communicate with potential consumers at the point of sale effectively and persuasively,”

“The acquisition of Cape Tech Plastics enhances our ability to do this, and allows us to grow our extensive service offering and diversify our client base. It made economic sense to coincide it with the move to our new factory,” says Wayne Elsom, CEO of Todwil.

The company now has a staff complement of 220, but has plans to grow headcount to 280 by year-end to service an ever growing client list involved in the global tobacco, telecommunications, liquor, confectionery and pharmaceutical industries.

“Our new head office not only provides room for growth, but the process has also forced us to take a critical look at our business model.

“Through this move, we have brought together four independently operational factories under one roof to consolidate our service offerings and synergise business processes not only to our advantage, but also to the benefit of our clients.”
