THE application deadline for applications to the first Cultivaria scholarship bursary has been extended until mid-September to ensure that more potential candidates have the opportunity to submit their entries.

The bursary will fund post-matric training in the hospitality, tourism or wine sector and prospective applicants must provide proof of leadership attributes, community involvement and scholastic achievements.

Additional qualification criteria for the bursary includesthat applicants must have the academic potential, but not the financial means, to fund their own studies and that the successful candidate must accept employment in the Drakenstein Municipal area for the same period for which the bursary was awarded to him or her.

According to festival director, Gerhard Meyer, this bursary presents an unbelievable opportunity for the successful candidate to m ake a career in some of the most vibrant industries in the region.”

Secondary schools which have not yet entered a candidate are also encouraged to do so before close of entries, on 10 September.
