2008-09-11
THE Pearl Valley Golf Estate outside Paarl has announced the appointment of its new General Manager, Jack Hrad. He joins from Troon Golf following more than 30 years’ experience in golf and country club operations across the United States, Asia and the Far East. Hrad has worked in more than 14 countries and successfully developed top-ranked golf clubs in the United States, China and Indonesia. At Troon Golf he served at some of their finest facilities including Savannah Harbor and St James Plantation. Says Hrad, “Pearl Valley Golf Estate is a spectacular course with a distinguished history and I am delighted to take on this role. “Leisurecorp has an unsurpassed passion and vision for golf and I am thrilled to be joining the team currently making Pearl Valley a world-class golf destination. “Our focus is to offer the finest in personalised service and with the pending development of Phase 2, Pearl Valley is to become the largest golf community in the region.” According to Leisurecorp’s CEO Golf, David Spencer, Hrad has a well respected international background in the industry: “Jack has the exact experience we were looking for, which will stand him in good stead as we approach this year’s South African Open Championship from 18 to 21 December. “This year the competition is set to be intense with a raft of the world’s best players announcing their intention to play. “Aside from legends Ernie Els and Retief Goosen, we are delighted that Masters champion and our home player, Trevor Immelman, will also be fighting it out to take this year’s title.” According to Hrad, it is these players who have made the biggest impact on his love of the game: “Els is a fine ambassador for the golf industry and I love the spunk of Goosen and the risks he takes on the course. “Trevor Immelman is the next generation of golfer, and is a fine role model who I hope will inspire the country’s youth to take an interest in this great game.” Hrad will be joined at Pearl Valley Golf Estates by Ray Snyders who returns to his native South Africa as Experience Manager, responsible for delivering the Troon Golf Experience. Prior to taking this position, Snyders worked for the Sunshine Tour and at the Grove in London.
