University choir performs in concert

ON Saturday at 20:00 the Stellenbosch University Symphonic Wind Ensemble and the City of Tygerberg Choir will present an impressive concert in the Endler Hall. The Wind Ensemble will be conducted by Pamela Kierman and the City of Tygerberg Choir will be under the baton of Rudolf de Beer. The Stellenbosch University Symphonic Wind Ensemble will perform works by Chance, Grundman, Williams and other popular arrangements. Third year music student Liam Burden (saxophone) will be the soloist for Grundman’s Concertante for Solo Alto Saxophone and Wind Band. In the second half, the City of Tygerberg Choir with the Wind Ensemble will take to the stage to present Morricone’s Symphonic Suite from the movie, The Mission, popular South African choir pieces by Khumalo and Bokwe and a selection of opera choruses by Verdi and Wagner’s. The South African composer Michael Viljoen arranged the pieces for the Wind Ensemble and City of Tygerberg Choir. Tickets are R90 (R70 for pensioners and students) at Computicket.
