ON 31 July at 22:30 I filled my vehicle at Daljosafat Motors in Bosch Street, Paarl, for a total of R706,89. I told the attendant that I had never paid so much to fill up and that the fuel price had really gone through the roof. The following week my car was very empty and I filled up in Lakeside at a cost of R558,30 for 48 litres and realised there was a discrepancy.
I reconciled the two transactions and saw that the Daljosafat Motors slip reflected that 60,8 litres of fuel was put into my tank.
As my tank only holds a maximum of 51 litres I approached Suzette, the owner of Daljosafat Motors, who said she would look into it and let me know.
A few weeks later she still had not reconciled my slip with her pumps and told me that I should have checked my slip. She took copies of the slips again and said she would come back to me.
After six weeks I went to see her at Daljosafat Motors and she said that she had nothing to say to me. I wanted a fair explanation as to how her pumps could state that more fuel had been supplied than my vehicle’s tank can hold (about 11 litres which I did not receive, were charged to me).
I asked if they had somehow swapped the slips and given me another vehicle’s slip. Only her reconciling it with her pumps would have answered that, which she did not do. Are the pumps tampered with to add additional litres to each fuel bill?
Obviously the difference in money has also not been refunded/credited to me and I thought to inform other consumers so that they do not get cheated like me.
