2005-07-21
THE Stellenbosch University Language Centre will be presenting its Wired for PR Writing workshop series from 7 to 9 September.
This hands-on workshop series is aimed at public relations officers who would like to improve their skills and at employees who have to fulfil public relations duties without having the necessary training.
Workshop participants will learn the following in a practical way: * how to plan their communication successfully; * how to understand the structures and demands of the media; * how to write an effective media release that will capture the attention of the papers, the radio and television; * how to write a feature that will be noticed by a publication; * how to develop the skills to identify newsworthy topics.
Workshop participants will have the opportunity to receive practical feedback on their own media releases.
The main presenter in the series is Dawid Botha (head of corporate communication at the Stellenbosch Academy for Design and Photography, and former lecturer in Public Relations Management at the former Cape Technikon). The guest presenters are Lizette Rabe (former editor of Sarie), and Amelia Burger (owner of Platform, communication and training company).
The workshop series costs R2450 per person, and will be presented in English.
A maximum of 15 workshop participants can be accommodated. Register by 22 August.
