PAARL SOCCER CLUB lost their unbeaten status on Saturday when they lost 2-1 against Green Hills at the Boy Louw Sports grounds.

The game started at a hectic pace with both sides attacking and providing entertaining football.

Paarl had most of the possession, but failed to convert any opportunities during the course of the first half.

It was Green Hills who scored first after one of the Paarl defenders miscued a clearance. Goalkeeper Lindsay van der Berg had to change direction to dive at the feet of the attacking Green Hills striker, but to no avail.

Green Hills went into the hut with their tails up and in the lead.

In the second half Paarl camped on the eighteen yard line of the Green Hills team. Marvin Alexander threaded a fantastic through ball to Leroy Prins who scored his eleventh goal in seven matches.

Thereafter, the pressure was relentlessly applied, but Paarl could not convert the many opportunities that came their way.

In the 89th minute of play, the referee adjudged one of the Paarl players to have handled the ball. The ensuing free kick was brilliantly taken by the Green Hills player and he beat the Paarl goalkeeper with the final whistle blowing almost straight after that.
