2008-10-02
THE St George’s Presbyterian Church in Wellington will host a Centennial Fundraising Dinner on 17 October in the church hall of the Dutch Reformed Church Wellington North. The dinner forms part of the centenary celebrations of the church, of which the foundation stone was laid in August 1908. Light entertainment will be provided by Lieze-Lotte Costandius, the singer Wihan and the Wellingtones, a barbershop quartet consisting of congregation members Con Wegelin, Nic Uys, David Bliss and Steve Kirsten. The dinner aims to raise funds for local community projects such as the Day Hospital project and the Green Bag project which provides food and supplies to needy people. A group of congregation members do regular volunteer work at the Day Hospital to provide a short service, tea and sandwiches to the sick and needy who visit the facilities. Tickets cost R150. For bookings and more information, call 021-873 2021.
