TWO art exhibitions, Assimilate and Marvellous World (MW), can be viewed at Off the Wall Contemporary gallery in Paarl until 26 October.

Assimilate is a group exhibition by participating artists Minique de Waal, Victoria du Toit, Fred Viljoen, Lara Kruger, Petro Zondagh (all from Paarl), Rosalind Stockhall, Chris Diedericks, Sandra Hanekom and others.

This exhibition will be showcasing some of the top emerging SA fine artists and designers.

These artists explore cultural differences and integration, and how society adjusts, evolves and seeks to find identity.

This theme has been translated into 2-D and 3-D design and art pieces.

Marvellous World showcases the work of participating artists Paul Cooper, Guy du Toit, Sarel Petrus and Richard John Forbes.

Tongue in cheek and eloquently blue, the travelling MW show brings together the work of four sculptors. Each sculptor negotiates the found object as a matter of material, differently.

There is something inverted and subverted; literally cheeky yet playful. But there is also deliberate and purposeful blatancy.

The artist hero débuts as an awkward comic spectacle in an antagonistic world of liberal political correctness, cheap social pastiche and incorrigible congeniality.
