Interschools beauty pageant

THE community development organisation Schoolz Unite will host its first Miss Schoolz Unite beauty pageant on Friday 17 October at 19:30, at Bergrivier Secondary School Hall, with 15 finalists. The organisation’s foundation is based on its vision to create a more interactive and supportive society amongst learners, teachers, schools, and the community through active participation in arts, culture and sports. The approach of Schoolz Unite is to add value to the learners in schools who are equipped with potential skills in arts, culture and sports, but have no outlet to share their dreams and visions, including modelling. Says Shaunelia Abrahams, event co-ordinator for the event “Gone are the days when beauty pageants consisted of ‘beauty with no brains’. Women are expected to live the Schoolz Unite brand by being actively involved in a charity organisation within her community, be a positive role model to young girls, and be passionate about her schooling and her future thereafter.”
