Bridge House Cricket on form
2008-10-16
ON Monday 13 October the Bridge House u.13A Cricket side played a touring team from Redhill Prep in Johannesburg. Redhill won the toss and elected to bat first. Due to fantastic bowling by Bridge House’s Matthew van Marken and James Watermeyer, Redhill got off to a slow start, only managing 19 runs off 10 overs, with one wicket already gone. Bridge House eventually restricted their opponents to 96 for 7 in their allotted 30 overs. The Bridge House batsmen then made easy work of chasing down the target, getting 100 runs for 3 wickets in 20,2 overs, winning the match by 7 wickets. Van Marken (3/27) was the winning team’s best bowler, with Orlando Hutchings scoring 30 runs (not out). * During the school holiday the Bridge House u.15 Cricket side toured to Knysna to play in the annual Knysna Sport School Cricket Festival. The tour gave the boys an opportunity to prepare for their upcoming season. They played excellent cricket and learned a lot from this experience, playing strong teams such as Grey High (PE). * Bridge House’s 1st X1 will play a home game against Groendal Sekondêr on Saturday.
