Positive start for Soccer Cup

THE organisers of the Mayoral Cup could not have asked for a better day than Saturday at the Boy Louw Sports Grounds, for this year’s tournament to kick off. Spectators were treated to some brilliant football during the opening games. In the first matches of the day, Boland Warriors beat Future Builders 3-0, Young Ideas beat M-Pirates 2-1, Barcelona beat Juventus 3-1 and Paarl Pirates and Power Cosmos drew 4 all. In the second round matches of the day, Carterville beat Localiser 2-1, Sea Birds won 4-2 against Saron, FC Athletico and XI Ideas drew 2 all and Try Again achieved a comfortable 4-1 victory against Boland Celtics. In the final games of the day Victoria United thrashed DC Rangers 5-0. City Killers lost 1-2 against A-Jaguars, Paarl City beat TK Lions 2-1 and Paarl Soccer Club won 2-1 against Newtons. This coming weekend the action will continue with games being played at Boy Louw, Dal Josaphat Stadium, Mbekweni Stadium and Faure Street Stadium.
