A REGIONAL Bakers Mini Cricket Festival, hosted by the Boland Cricket Board, will be held at Boland Park on Saturday, starting at 09:00.

Approximately 800 children from around the region are expected to attend the festival.

Bakers Mini Cricket (BMC), which recently celebrated its 25th year anniversary, is a developmental cricket programme run across the country, which introduces primary school level kids to the game of cricket.

Developed by Dr Ali Bacher, BMC is a scaled down version of cricket, played on any surface with a soft ball and with eight players a side.

For many children BMC is their first exposure to cricket and gives them a chance to try their hand at batting, bowling and fielding.
