THE effort of totting up the total number of awards that Perdeberg Winery has won this year is rewarding in itself. Perdeberg Wines – the one with the zebra - have been given a massive vote of confidence all round by amassing 70 wine awards, medals and trophies in 2008 alone.
At the Swiss International Wine Awards, Perdeberg won 24 awards including Best White. Then, at the Old Mutual Trophy Wine Show, the co-operative was ranked fifth best performing winery and took home eight bronze awards as well as the trophy for best Chenin Blanc for its SAAM Mountain Middelburg Chenin Blanc 2007.
It won six ‘best value’ stickers in the Wine Magazine awards, eight Michelangelo awards, 13 Veritas medals and 10 Decanter World Wine Awards.
Altogether, Perdeberg scored five golds, 15 silvers and 31 bronze medals and a long list of ‘seals of approval’, stickers and other compliments, says proud CEO Gerhard van der Watt.
